Chasing Smoke

They say of eclipse photography that you cannot capture the eclipse, you can only chase it.  Adding to the allure is that totality can only be experienced in person, and while time feels like it stands still, it is over in moments to minutes. Those things we passionately pursue with our whole selves hold value because they cannot be caught, only chased, too. The resolution of capturing it would be to tame it, and the fire would go out.
